THE SWINEHERD. Hans Andersen is perhaps best known for his famous fairy tales; "The Little Mermaid", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Emperor's New Clothes" or "The Snow Queen", perhaps, which was the inspiration for Disney's "Frozen"
Altogether he wrote around 50 fairy tales as well as many other stories, poems and novels.
The Swineherd(AKA The Princess and the Swineherd) is not one of his best known stories, but is certainly one of the most unusual, and nobody ever guesses the end!
After an interval, when Ice Cream is available, we continue with the show.
MAGIC WITH THE HELP OF THE CHILDRENMr Bimbamboozle will again be presenting some of his Magic Tricks with assistance from children in the audience. This is always a very popular part of the show.
We end the show with what has become a tradition at the Harlequin, our acclaimed
MARIONETTE CABARETThis is Chris demonstrating his mastery of Marionette Manipulation in full view so that we see exactly how the strings are pulled.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
With all the Government restrictions now lifted the onus is still on us to work to a risk assessment regarding covid-safety and so we have decided to continue to limit numbers and keep some social distancing for a little longer. Therefore we NEED YOU TO BOOK IN ADVANCE so that we can plan your seating.
ADULTS & MASKS
You are no longer obliged to wear a face covering, but please, by all means, continue to do so if it makes you feel more comfortable.
BOOKING SEATS IN ADVANCE
At the moment the only way you can book seats is online, and pay by PayPal or a Card. You do not need a PayPal account, you can still use PayPal to pay by CARD in the usual way. You do not have to join PayPal however they will ask you for your details just as will any other merchant from whom you are buying online.
Within a few minutes of your booking you should get an email from PaypPal confirming your booking and mentioning the number of seats and also the date you have booked. Just check that these details are correct.
If you don't get this email then please check in your "Junk" or "Spam" Folder in case it has been wrongly classified by your email filter.
I too will have received a notification from PayPal and will have allocated seats and reserved tickets in your name. You should collect these from the Box Office when you arrive at the theatre for the show. The show starts at 3pm.
The email receipt from PayPal is really all you need, but I usually send a second receipt (usually next day) confirming the details.
The Harlequin Puppet Theatre opens throughout the main school holiday periods: The February, Easter, Spring Holiday and October half terms together with the main Summer Season from the end of July into early September.
